Online Course While Lying in the Midst of a Pandemic - Hey guys how are you,Are you still in good health? Even though the situation outside is still alert because of COVID19, don't let time just disappear because you don't have activities outside. One way that can be done to take advantage of time is to take online courses. Especially in today's era, online courses can also be done lying down at home. Instead of leaving the house for less urgent and risky activities, right?
This time I will share a few applications or platforms to take courses online. It's no half-hearted, guys, there are many course providers in this application, you know, from the world's top universities such as Stanford University, John Hopkins University, Harvard University, Wageningen University & Research and other providers whose credibility is unquestionable.
Here are 3 (three) recommended applications to try
1. EdX
edX is an application for online courses developed by one of the top universities in the USA. Previously, I had tried an online course application several years ago because there was quite interesting material, namely about Food, Nutrition, and Disease given by Wageningen University & Research, Netherlands. How can you not be enthusiastic about trying, in the course we feel like we are face to face with a teacher/professor at WUR who provides learning in the form of videos. Some of the material presented can also be downloaded to the device that we use. WUR is also the university with the No. 1 in the field of Food and Agriculture, you know. So you don't want to be left behind, right?
How to register for courses on edX is quite easy, namely by registering an account first on the edX website or through the edX android application which can be downloaded on the playstore. After the account is verified, we can see several categories of available courses. In several courses that I have tried, participation is free. But if we want a certificate then there needs to be a fee to be paid and there are certain parts of the course that can only be accessed if we pay for the course. But, overall it is quite helpful to upgrade our knowledge.
2. COURSERA
The 2nd online course application that I tried was COURSERA. COURSERA can be accessed either through the website (PC version) or the COURSERA application (android version) which can be downloaded from the Playstore. Actually, it is almost similar to edX, but at a glance the types of courses offered at COURSERA are more diverse and systematic in appearance. Then friends, you can try it yourself. The course description in this applic
ation lists the learning syllabus, the progress we have made each week, and the assignments or quizzes that we have to do. Course providers on COURSERA are also as credible as course providers on the edX application. Some of the material providers include John Hopkins University, Imperial College London, Yale University and many others. There are even foreign language courses such as Mandarin and English available, you know. Oh yes, I have written about language learning applications in a previous article, yes (click to read more).
What is the difference between COURSERA and edX? One of the advantages of COURSERA is that this application provides a menu for requesting scholarships on several courses that must be paid for (especially if you want an official certificate). If the scholarship application has been verified and declared accepted by COURSERA, then participants can access the material that was originally paid for, you know! Interesting right?
3. IndonesiaX
Now for the 3rd application, it comes from Indonesia. However, since I've never taken a course here, I can't give a review yet. On the main page of this website, several interesting courses are displayed, for example from BNPB, the House of Change, and several other beloved universities or institutions in Indonesia.
So how are you friends? Interesting right? Let's take advantage of the time to continue learning by utilizing existing technology. BE A LONG LIFE LEARNER !🙂
